Our Name & Our Legacy
First Financial has been managing the wealth, land, and futures of Texas families for nearly a century. What started as a commitment to honest, relationship-first financial stewardship has grown into a full-service wealth management institution spanning nine markets across the state, and our foundation has never changed.
We have helped thousands of friends and neighbors grow and protect what they have built, across generations, through market cycles, and through every season of life. Our clients bring us more than their portfolios. They bring us their mineral rights, their family ranches, their retirement plans, their estates, and the legacy they want to leave behind. We are built to carry all of it.
The name First Financial Wealth Management reflects what we have always been: a trusted partner for the full picture of your financial life, from your first account to your final wishes.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why the change in name?
The name First Financial Trust no longer fully describes what we do. Clients were sometimes confused, assuming we only set up trusts. First Financial Wealth Management better reflects the full range of services we have always offered, including investment management and retirement planning, real property management, mineral management, and estate administration.
Is this a rebrand or a major organizational change?
This is a name change only. There are no changes to our team, our services, our locations, or our management of client assets. The new name clarifies who we have always been.
When does the new name go into effect?
The transition is underway and will be reflected across our communications, materials, and locations over the coming months. Your relationship manager will keep you informed of any updates relevant to your account.
I do not have a trust. Does that mean I am not a client you can help?
Not at all. This is exactly the kind of confusion the name change is meant to resolve. "Trust" in our previous name referred to our legal structure as a trust company, not a requirement that every client have a trust. We serve clients at every stage of life and with a wide variety of needs, many of whom do not have a formal trust.
I already have a trust. Does the name change affect my trust or my accounts?
No. Your trust, your accounts, your assets, and all related documents are completely unaffected. We continue to serve as your trustee or executor exactly as before.
Do I need a trust to work with First Financial Wealth Management?
No. Trust and estate administration is one of many services we offer, but it is not required to work with us. We serve individual investors, business owners, families managing mineral interests, retirement savers, and more. You use what fits your situation.
What services does First Financial Wealth Management offer?
We offer a comprehensive suite of wealth management services, including :
• Investment Management: Stocks, bonds, ETFs, and mutual funds across Equity Income, Core, and Strategic Growth portfolios
• Retirement Management: IRA, Roth IRA, SEP IRA, 401(k), and company retirement plans
• Trust and Estate Administration: Serving as trustee, co-trustee, or executor
• Real Property Management: Residential, commercial, farm and ranch, and estate settlement
• Mineral Management: Oil, gas, and royalty interests across all major Texas basins
• Company Retirement Plans: Full fiduciary oversight of 401(k), profit sharing, and ESOP plans
How is First Financial Wealth Management different from First Financial Bank?
First Financial Wealth Management and First Financial Bank are two arms of the same institution. The bank handles everyday banking needs, while the wealth management side specializes in investment management, estate planning, and asset management. The two work together, and clients can access both through a single relationship with First Financial.
Can a bank customer access wealth management services?
Yes. Existing bank customers are encouraged to connect with a wealth management relationship manager to learn how our services might complement their banking relationship. There is no minimum requirement to have a conversation, though accounts are typically most beneficial for clients with assets over $150,000.
Will my relationship manager change?
No. Your existing relationship manager and points of contact remain in place. Continuity of relationships is a top priority of this transition.
What credentials does the First Financial Wealth Management team hold?
Our team includes:
• Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA )
• Certified Trust and Financial Advisors (CTFA )
• Certified Public Accountants (CPA )
• Certified Valuation Analysts (CVA)
• Certified Professional Landmen (CPL )
• Chartered Alternative Investment Analysts (CAIA )
We are a team of over 60 professionals across Texas with deep expertise in investments, trust administration, oil and gas, real estate, and retirement planning.
Is the name change connected to the recent change in leadership?
No. The name change is about clarity, not leadership. The transition from First Financial Trust to First Financial Wealth Management reflects a long-held recognition that our name did not fully communicate what we offer. Scott Dueser, long-time President and CEO of First Financial Bankshares and a 50-year First Financial banker, continues to serve as Executive Chairman to ensure new leadership is set up for success. Both Scott Dueser and David Bailey support this direction and share the vision of building First Financial into the most respected financial services institution in Texas.
What has changed under new leadership?
The core values, team, and client commitment at First Financial remain unchanged. David Bailey has been part of this institution for over 23 years and is focused on growth and cohesion across the First Financial brand rather than disruption or reinvention.
Are there plans for further changes beyond the name?
The focus right now is on a clean, consistent transition that serves clients and positions First Financial Wealth Management for long-term growth. Any future changes will be communicated clearly and in advance.
